Teen who slapped mum for RM2 faces action

PETALING JAYA: A video clip of a 17-year-old slapping his mother for not giving him RM2 pocket money has gone viral.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias said the teen had asked for RM2 and lost his temper when his mother refused.

He tried to grab RM17 from her after becoming violent.

The boy was seen repeatedly hitting his mother, in the 40-second clip.

It is learnt that the video was shot by another family member.

A police report was made as the family is worried for the teenager’s safety after the video went viral.

“We have taken statements from everyone involved and the parent of the boy does not want to press charges against him.

“A urine test on the teenager also came back negative for drugs,” he said.

He added that the family claimed this was the first time such an incident occurred but police are still investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt which carries a maximum one-year imprisonment or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
