Najib given rousing welcome home

SEPANG: Loud cheers and colourful banners greeted Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as he arrived home from his trip to the United States and Britain.

The aircraft carrying the Prime Minister and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor touched down at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport here at 8.30pm Friday.

The welcome for the Prime Minister was organised by Barisan Nasional members.

Leading the welcoming party was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Cries of "Hidup PM (Long live the PM)" greeted Najib as he stepped out of the Bunga Raya Complex to the waiting crowd.

A smiling Najib and Rosmah shook hands with the crowd, who presented them with garlands and flower bouquets.

Banners expressing support for the Prime Minister and congratulating him for his successful trip were seen in the crowd.

Najib was in the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. He was also in London for a meeting with his British counterpart Theresa May.

Najib had flown from London directly to Alor Setar, Kedah on Friday, where he visited the grave of the late Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah. He then flew from there to Sepang.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school, which was gutted in a fire, later Friday.
