PETALING JAYA: All 23 victims of Thursday's fire at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school have been successfully identified via DNA testing, says Health director-general (pic) Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, Noor Hisham said they would meet and inform the parents for "further undertakings and closure".

He thanked the National Institute of Forensic Medicine team and its head Dr Mohd Shah as well as all parties who assisted and facilitated the rapid response and management of this national tragedy.

"We hope and pray that this will be the last such incident and preventive action must be in place and be the order of the day," said Dr Noor Hisham.

The deceased will be prepared for burial at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur's mosque.

On Thursday morning, a fire gutted the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school on Jalan Datuk Keramat, killing 21 students and two teachers.
