KUALA LUMPUR: Efforts are being made to increase the number of local seafarers for Malaysian-registered ships, which are now manned mainly by foreign deckhands.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic) said there are currently about 5,000 locals working on board Malaysian vessels.
