Magicians switch outfits 24 times in one minute

GEORGE TOWN: Whatever you do, just don’t blink when magicians Avery Chin and Sylvia Lim are performing.

The husband-and-wife team had the crowd on their feet as they tried to secure a Guinness World Record for “most costume change illusions in one minute” during the Penang Street Food Festival on Saturday.

They managed to switch outfits 24 times here, bettering their previous feat of 22 times on the Japanese television show Love Saves the Earth in Japan on Aug 27.

The couple first made headlines doing 18 changes of costume in 60 seconds in Wuhan, China, in 2016.

Chin said they would submit their new record to the Guinness World Records for verification.

“We practised hard for this attempt as we wanted to get it right.

“It’s not same as a magic show and it can be nerve-wracking at times,” he added.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng later presented the couple with a certificate of achievement after their act, which was witnessed by thousands of visitors attending the festival in Beach Street.
