PM’s aide: 'Nothing To Hide 2.0' became an 'Everything To Hide' forum

PETALING JAYA: The allegations that Umno and the Prime Minister was behind the fracas at the Nothing To Hide 2.0 forum on Sunday are false, reckless and unbecoming, said Datuk Seri Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad (pix).  

The Prime Minister's press secretary said the allegations were an attempt to divert attention away from the disintegration of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi).  

He said they were “yet another example” of the Opposition’s reliance on creating hate and anger against the Government at every possible opportunity.  

"The wild allegations blaming Umno and the Prime Minister by (PKR deputy president) Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and other Pakatan leaders are false, reckless and unbecoming.  

“Pribumi was entirely responsible for the event, so to blame the pandemonium on Umno is an attempt by the Opposition to cover up the shameless action of its own members,” said Tengku Sariffuddin in a statement on Monday.  

"The reality is that Opposition supporters were upset with Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s inability to answer questions at the forum on scandals during his rule, such as his jailing of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Memali killings.  

“The ‘Nothing to Hide 2.0’ forum instead became an ‘Everything to Hide’ forum.  

“As everyone knows, and as became clear at the event, Pakatan Harapan is fundamentally divided.  

"What else could be expected from a coalition that has been cobbled together as a marriage of convenience by former enemies who did everything to destroy each other for decades?” he said.  

Tengku Sariffuddin said if Pakatan is unable to preserve the peace at its own forums, "one can only imagine what they would do to Malaysia".  

“It is clear that it would be a disaster for the country if the DAP-led Opposition assumed power at the next general election.  

“The authorities will investigate the incident and take the necessary action as provided by the law.  

"This Government under the leadership of the Prime Minister will continue to focus on the economic welfare, social wellbeing and security of all Malaysians,” he added.  

The forum descended into chaos when slippers, a shoe, bottles and a chair were thrown and two flares were flung into the crowd at the Dewan Raja Muda Musa hall in Shah Alam.  

The session with Dr Mahathir, also the Pakatan Harapan chairman, had to be halted abruptly after about 90 minutes when the former prime minister was answering a question on the 1985 Kampung Memali tragedy in Baling, Kedah.  

Three teenagers have been remanded over the incident.
