ALOR SETAR: A jobless man vandalised the house of his former lover by spraying powder from a fire extinguisher at her living room due to what he claims are unsettled debts.
The 35-year-old man, who alleged that the woman owed him RM3,500, went to her village house in Kampung Salit, Jitra near here at about 10.15pm on Friday.
Kubang Pasu district police chief Supt Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said the man screamed from outside the house for the woman but she refused to open the door and ran to the kitchen.
“When she returned to the living room, she found the furniture there covered in powder from the fire extinguisher,” he said yesterday.
He said the man also allegedly threatened to kill the 31-year-old woman when he bumped into her a day earlier near her house if she failed to repay the RM3,500 debt.
“The woman, however, denied that she owned the man any money and told police that she was the one who bore all the expenses for food and drinks when they were courting,” Supt Mohd Ismail added.
He said police recovered a fire extinguisher outside her house after she lodged a police report on Friday after the incident.
It is learnt that the man and the woman, who is a restaurant helper, had been together for two to three years before they broke up recently.
