Four-year-old killed after being run over by jeep at condo in Kepong


KUALA LUMPUR: A four-year-old girl was killed after she was run over by a jeep near the entrance of a parking area at a condominium in Kepong near here.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic police chief Asst Comm Mohd Nadzri Hussain said the incident occurred at about noon on Monday as the jeep, driven by a 40-year-old man, was entering the parking area of the condominium at Jalan Metro 2.

“The victim was believed to have suddenly run across the path of the jeep before she was hit and run over by the vehicle,” he said when contacted.

ACP Mohd Nadzri said the driver of the jeep then rushed the victim, who was identified as Lim Pei Ru, to the Selayang Hospital.

He added that the victim was pronounced dead by a doctor at 12.58pm.

ACP Mohd Nadzri said that police went to the scene of the incident and the statement of the jeep driver had been taken.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death.
