Cops arrest FB user accused of insulting King

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a Facebook user for allegedly insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

The Inspector-General of Police tweeted that the 41-year-old woman, who goes by the name “Catt Ginger” on Facebook, was detained yesterday.

“Syabas JSJ KL @PDRMsia bjaya tkap ‘Catt Ginger’ yg menghina KDYMM YDP Agung. #GoPDRMGo (Congrats JSJ KL for detaining Catt Ginger who insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he tweeted via his KBAB51 account.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department deputy director (cyber and multimedia investigation) Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Kamaruddin Mohd Din said police went to the woman’s house in Taman Usahawan, Kepong.

“We seized a mobile phone, as well as a laptop with modem and router.

“She will be remanded pending an investigation,” he said, adding that the woman was arrested under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

The Facebook user allegedly uploaded a picture of Sultan Muhammad V, which had been disrespectfully edited and carried a Selamat Hari Raya greeting, on June 25, the first day of Aidilfitri.
