Smart Tunnel closes due to rain

PETALING JAYA: The Smart Tunnel has been closed following heavy rains and rising water levels in Kuala Lumpur, said  Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

DBKL's official traffic watch account ITIS DBKL tweeted the closure at 5pm.

A spokesperson from ITIS DBKL also advised road users to take alternate routes to get to their destinations, adding that despite heavy rains, floodwaters in most places have receded.

"At around 4pm, we found areas like Jalan Dutamas, Jalan Sentul, Persiaran Ampang Hilir, Jalan Tun Razak and Batu Muda Tambahan had rising water levels. However over the course of the hour, the water has receded," said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson however added that traffic is still slow-moving due to the heavy rain, and advised road users to drive carefully.

"Maintain the distance and drive within the speed limit. Use your headlights to aid in visibility," said the spokesperson.
