DAP: Wan Azizah will be PM if Opposition wins next GE

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pic), as Pakatan Harapan leader, will be the prime minister if the Opposition takes over Putrajaya, says Anthony Loke.

The Seremban MP said Malaysia does not need to wait until 2050 to have a female premier as the Opposition can make this a reality if it wins the 14th General Election.

He said this in response to a statement made by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in conjunction with International Women's Day in Parliament, that he hoped for a female prime minister by 2050.

"The Opposition is ready to support Permatang Pauh (Wan Azizah) as prime minister if we are given the mandate. There's no need to wait for 2050," Loke said while debating the Royal Address in Parliament.

Loke, who is also DAP national organising secretary, said this was because Wan Azizah is the leader of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
