North Korean ambassador leaves Putrajaya following meeting

PUTRAJAYA: North Korea's Ambassador to Malaysia Kang Chol made a hasty exit from Wisma Putra after being summoned over his allegations that Malaysia was "colluding" with external forces with regard to the death of Kim Jong Nam.

Kang, who had arrived at the Foreign Ministry at 9.55am on Monday in his official car, left at 11.29am.

His car did not stop despite attempts by a group of about 50 local and foreign journalists waiting outside the gates to get him to speak.

Malaysia has recalled its ambassador to North Korea.

The Foreign Ministry, in a strongly worded statement on Monday, said the Malaysian Government had been transparent regarding the death of Kim Jong-nam, the murdered half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The North Korean Embassy in Malaysia, the statement said, had been kept informed of developments related to the matter as well as the processes involved under Malaysian law.
