KLANG: Tragedy struck a family here when their six-year-old son died after falling out of the window of an apartment here.
Muhammad Syafiq Shyahmi Mohammad Sauffi (pic) was believed to have been playing in the living room of his parents’ apartment in Shah Alam when the incident happened at 5pm on Sunday.
The child fell out of a window from the third floor apartment of the SMK Jalan Kebun teachers’ quarters and died, said OCPD Asst Comm Shafien Mamat when contacted yesterday.
“The victim was playing and his parents were not aware that he had climbed onto a coffee table placed by the window,” he said.
A post-mortem conducted at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah here revealed that the boy had suffered a fractured skull.
The boy was with his mother and stepfather at the time of the incident. His mother is a teacher at the school.
Muhammad Shafiq’s stepfather Mohd Azmi Buandi, 27, said his son never played by the window before this.
“He usually played downstairs with other children or at home with his brother,” he said.
The younger brother is a few months old.
Muhammad Syafiq’s remains were later buried at the Sungai Manggis Muslim cemetery yesterday.
