Body of baby boy found in dumpster

BUKIT MERTAJAM: An 81-year-old man rummaging through a garbage bin in Bandar Perda made a shocking discovery when he came across the body of a baby boy.

Central Seberang Prai district police chief Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan said the contract worker was about to pick up a bottle when he spotted a batik cloth bundle wrapped in black plastic bag.

“Suspecting it may be the body of a newborn after holding it, he quickly called us.

“A team was deployed to the scene and the dead baby was found upon opening the bundle.

“The body has been sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post mortem. We are investigating the case as concealment of a birth by secret disposal of a dead body under Section 318 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Last month, a six-month foetus was found in a dumpster in Chai Leng Park here.

A 36-year-old security guard found the foetus wrapped in a pair of white trousers while digging through the dumpster to collect recyclable items.
