RM30mil Kuang interchange opens to traffic

RAWANG: The Kuang NSE-LATAR multi-layer interchange, worth an estimated RM30mil, is open for use and expected to benefit more than 200,000 people in the surrounding area.

The newly opened 3.1km-interchange, which connects the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar) and North and South Expressway (NSE), will reduce the distance and travel time between Kundang and Kuala Lumpur by approximately 10km or 15 minutes.

"I am confident that the interchange will complement the Latar and NSE, by providing an additional impetus in boosting development of Kundang and uplift the socio-economic status of its residents," said Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof after launching the project at the site on Monday.

The project, which was constructed by TPPT Sdn Bhd in partnership with Gamuda Land, was developed based on a public-private partnership model.

Fadillah said due to the many expressways, north Selangor, including Sungai Buloh, Rawang and Kundang, will soon enjoy an increase development of residential, commercial and industrial opportunities, which in turn will boost the local economy.

He stressed that investment in infrastructure development and maintenance remain a top priority for the Federal Government.

"We maintain the commitment of 50,000km toll-free federal roads and will continue to provide annual allocations to respective states to maintain their roads," he said.
