Couple claim trial in illegal possession of firearm case

KUANTAN: A cigarette vendor and his girlfriend have claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to a charge of possession of a pistol and 45 bullets.

Chun Yeap Guan, 39, and his girlfriend Goh Kah Lee, 40, were jointly charged with possession of a Sig Sauer P239 pistol at 2.30am on Dec 1 at premises in Lorong Alor Akar 26 here.

Both accused also allegedly possessed 45 AP 15 9MM Luger bullets without a licence or permit at the same time and address, an offence punishable under Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960.

Judge Siti Aminah Ghazali fixed Jan 4 for a re-mention of the case.

Deputy public prosecutor Fatinah Abu Bakar appeared for the prosecution, while counsel Bob Arumugam represented both of the accused. — Bernama
