Ronnie Liu recovers after fainting at police lock-up

PETALING JAYA: Former Pandamaran assemblyman Ronnie Liu's health has improved following treatment after he collapsed in a police lock-up on Friday, said Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng.

Liu was picked up by police on Friday along with several others ahead of the Bersih 5.0 rally and was held at the Jinjang police station.

Lim said his DAP colleague did not have his medication for high blood pressure causing him to faint.

Lim told The Star Online on Sunday that Liu was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital where he received his medication and his health has improved.

“His health improved and he was sent back to the Jinjang lockup at about 9.45pm (Saturday),” Lim said.

Several leaders from Bersih, DAP, PKR, Red Shirts and activists were detained in a police sweep on Friday and Saturday

Bersih 2.0 chair Maria Chin Abdullah has been detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) and can be held for a further 28 days.
