Unite to ensure party's survival, Khaled tells Johor Umno members

PAGOH: Umno members should not punish the party because of the actions of a few leaders but should instead unite to ensure the party's survival, says Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic).

The Johor Umno chief said he was told many had "lost hope" as they believed the party had strayed from the basis of its struggles.

"Many of them believe Umno is at a crossroads. I admit there is some truth to this, but highlighting weaknesses over and over again will not solve issues the party faces," he said.

Mohamed Khaled, who is also Johor Mentri Besar, said this in his speech before officiating the Pagoh Umno division meeting here.

He said that leaving the party was not an alternative, but as members, the only way to restore Umno's prestige was to fix the problems.

"It is highly irresponsible for us to leave Umno after what the party has done for all of us," he said.
