GEORGE TOWN: A High Court here has recalled two witnesses to testify in a murder case on Valentine’s Day three years ago.
Judicial Commissioner Collin Lawrence Sequerah used Section 425 of the Criminal Procedure Code which empowers the court to call consultant forensic psychiatrist Datuk Dr Suarn Singh and psychiatrist Dr Kelvin Lee to testify again in court.
He said that it was essential to recall the witnesses for a just decision on the case.
Dr Suarn works at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, while Dr Lee is from Bukit Mertajam Hospital.
Engineer Cheong Teik Keon, 34, was charged with murdering his clerk girlfriend Tan Ching Chin, 24, at her family home in Taman Hwa Seng in Alma, Bukit Mertajam, at 8.40am on Feb 14, 2013.
If convicted, he will get the mandatory death sentence. Both witnesses have been asked to be present on Aug 16 to testify.
