JOHOR BARU: Enraged with jealousy over his wife’s purported affair with another man, a man allegedly slashed and killed her during a quarrel at a budget hotel in Taman Sentosa here.
The 21-year-old slashed his wife, also 21, on her neck and cheeks before leaving her in a pool of blood.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Sulaiman Salleh said the couple from Klebang, Malacca, were staying at the hotel before going job-hunting in Singapore the next day.
He said the incident came to light when the husband turned himself in at the Johor Baru Sentral police station at around 5pm after the deadly incident on Wednesday.
Police arrived at the scene to find the victim stabbed twice in the shoulder, with bruises and cuts on her palms, believed to be inflicted while she was trying to defend herself.
The suspect admitted using an 11-inch knife to attack his wife in a fit of jealousy over her affair, he said.
He added that the suspect, who is a former plumber, did not have any criminal record and tested negative for drugs.
ACP Sulaiman said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The man is being remanded until July 27 for further investigations, he said.
