Four in family gunned down

BALIK PULAU: A 32-year-old man, believed to be on drugs, shot dead three of his family members and another man while they were sleeping in their container home in Batu Maung near here on Wednesday.

Police, who were informed of the incident at 2.55am, said the man had rushed into the container home located in a chicken processing factory before shooting the four as they were asleep.

Police identified the dead as Tan Saw Sim, the man’s 55-year-old mother, his brother Chung Wah Thong, in his 20s, and two-year-old nephew, known as Ah Bee.

Also killed was Toh Hock Choon, the 50-year-old partner/operator of the factory.

Penang CID chief Datuk Razaruddin Husain said initial investigation showed that the man could have gone into a rage after he could not get money to buy drugs.

The suspect fled the scene in a Toyota Hilux, registration number PLJ 7392, owned by the operator.
