Hotline set up for info on British paedophile Richard Huckle

PETALING JAYA: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has urged those with information on British paedophile Richard Huckle (pix) to contact the Talian Kasih 15999 hotline.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said the ministry was also seeking more information from authorities before taking action.

Huckle was accused of sexually abusing Malaysian children.

Rohani said in a statement on Thursday that she was shocked with the facts of the case, more so as Huckle hid behind voluntary work for children.

She also hoped that everyone would respect the sensitivities of the children and families involved.

Graphic details of dozens of sexual offences by Huckle emerged for the first time Wednesday as his sentencing hearing started in London.

Huckle faced a total of 91 charges including against 23 children in Kuala Lumpur, where he set himself up as an English teacher. He admitted to 71 of the charges.

AFP reported that investigators found over 20,000 indecent images on Huckle’s computer.

He also kept a ledger of his attacks and wrote a manual called “Paedophiles And Poverty: Child Lover Guide”.
