Proton issues recall of Inspira and Exora CPS models

PETALING JAYA: Proton is recalling more than 110,000 cars in a move to fix existing or potential flaws in its Inspira sedan and Exora CPS 1.6 MPV.

Mitsubishi Motors Japan on Feb 18 issued a global recall of selected models for defective right-turn indicator switches.

As the Inspira is a rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer, Proton is recalling all Inspiras manufactured from 2010 to 2014, which have the faulty switches.

A total of 20,330 units of Inspira were affected by the recall, Proton said in a statement yesterday.

Some 90,000 units of the Exora CPS 1.6 MPV were being recalled to check the powertrain fuel line.

Proton said this was a precautionary measure that involved the MPV variant manufactured from 2009 to 2015.

It will notify affected owners who should then make an appointment with their preferred service outlet for an inspection.

The cost of labour and parts relating to the rectification work, if any, will be borne by Proton.

In February, Proton recalled some 95,000 vehicles to replace faulty CFE oil cooler hoses, a problem that could potentially cause the engines to overheat.

The affected models were the Exora, Preve and Suprima.
