SIBU: For the past one year, a husband and wife team has been living luxuriously by trafficking in drugs. Their illicit activity ended when the state police narcotics team detained them at 9.30pm on May 16 at their home in Jalan Salim-Stabau.
The businessman and his eight-month pregnant wife were arrested following a tip-off from members of the public.
Seized from them were RM286,000 worth of various types of drugs. The offence provides for the mandatory death sentence by hanging if convicted.
The two are under remand for seven days to facilitate police investigations.
“The suspects have no previous police record. The man is running a small business. Tests on his urine show positive for drugs,” said deputy district police chief Supt Martin Koo said at a press conference yesterday.
