Maxis announces new DataPool feature, data quota upgrade

PETALING JAYA: Maxis has announced its new “DataPool” feature for MaxisOne customers and has upgraded the data quotas for more than one million customers.

On Friday, the company announced that MaxisOne customers will be able to use the new DataPool feature to share data with their family or on other devices.

The company added that customers would also be allowed to use their shared DataPool when travelling overseas.

Through the feature, users will also be able to take their local data quotas overseas and receive unlimited international calls when roaming.

Those wishing to add more data to their pool will also be allowed to add an extra line for every 5GB for just RM48.

Additionally, customers will also receive an extra 5GB for video streaming if they choose to stream videos on iFlix, ErosNow, Viu and Hopser.

Maxis also said that over one million of its customers had had their data quotas upgraded permanently for free overnight.

MaxisOne customers with a 1GB plan will now receive 5GB, those with 3GB have been upgraded to 10GB, customers with a 5GB quota will now receive 15GB and those with an allowance of 7GB have been upgraded to 20GB.

Customers can use the MyMaxis app to check for the upgraded data.

The announcement was made by Maxis CEO Morten Lundal (pic) at Menara Maxis on Friday morning.

Lundal said that the free quota upgrade would not hurt network quality as the company has invested so much to modernise.

Earlier this month, Maxis announced that it would be upgrading all its existing MaxisOne plan customers to higher data quotas at the same price.
