Adenan: Jamal Yunos ban shows state not selective

SIBU: The four people associated with Umno who are the organisers of the red-shirt protest in Kuala Lumpur, who were barred from entering the state on Thursday, showed that the state government was not bias on the matter, Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said.

"This is the answer to Chong's allegation that we only ban (those) from the Opposition," Adenan told a press conference after attending Rimbunan Hijau Group of Companies gathering Thursday.

Chong Chieng Jen, who is Sarawak DAP chairman, had previously ctiticised Adenan for denying entry only  those from the Opposition.

Earlier in the day, Sungai Besar Umno chief and red-shirt rally organiser Datuk Jamal Md Yunos was the latest personality to be barred from entering Sarawak.

Apart from Jamal, Ariffin Abu Bakar, who is Umno communication chief, Major (R) Zakari Zakaria and Abdul Rahim Abu Bakar also of the red-shirt group were denied entry into the state.

They were served with a notice refusing them entry by Immigration officers, joining a list of Opposition leaders and other activists banned from the state ahead of the poll on May 7.
