PUTRAJAYA: Be professional and stop fabricating stories, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has told a news portal.
“Do not fabricate stories and do not make false allegations. I think they have gone overboard,” Dr Wee said after attending a business dialogue forum organised by the Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs (SAME) yesterday.
He was referring to the new portal’s article titled “Wee now refuses to confirm JPA scholarships suspension”.
“Since when did I confirm the announcement that PSD scholarships will be suspended by the government?” he asked.
Dr Wee said the portal did not contact him to make a “simple clarification”, adding that he was saddened by the report.
“Worse still, now they are saying Wee is blaming the media for distorting his word. I did not say anything to them,’’ he said.
In his speech, Dr Wee welcomed entrepreneurs from China with open arms, expressing hope that the Asian economic giant would partner with Malaysia to penetrate into the Asean market.
“We are a country which has the advantage of gathering knowledge from various civilisations, especially from the Islamic world, Hindu civilisation, Chinese civilisation and the Western World,” he said.
The accumulation of knowledge from these variety of sources meant Malaysia had a pool of different kind of experts to draw upon, said Dr Wee.
He said in 2013, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Chinese President Xi Jinping set a target to boost two-way trade to US$160bil (RM686bil) by 2017.
Dr Wee urged more Chinese corporations to continue investing in Malaysia.
The business dialogue forum was held as a business matching platform between 100 entrepreneurs from Hubei and companies in Malaysia.
