Works Ministry aims to prevent erosion and landslides

Preventive measures: Tarpaulin sheets have been laid across a few hundred metres of hill slopes (left) that have been cleared for a planned block of high rise buildings in Paya Terubong, Penang, to prevent erosion. (Above) Homes situated near hill slopes along Jalan Beringin, Bukit Damansara, face the risk of landslides during the rainy season.

KUALA LUMPUR: All eyes are on risky slopes around the country as the approaching rainy season will be accompanied by an increased risk of soil erosion and landslides.

Many developers around the country have been told to ensure that measures to prevent landslides are taken at their construction sites, especially for projects on high-risk slopes.
