Cost of a wedding that’s unregistered


PUTRAJAYA: A Court of Appeal held that a woman who did not register her customary marriage was not a lawful wife and has no right to claim for loss of dependency.

Court of Appeal judge Justice Mohd Zawawi Salleh, who chaired a three-man panel, ruled that bank executive Dee Bee Yoke, 32, who did not register her customary marriage under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 was not a lawful wife to a businessman who died in a road accident about five years ago.
