Star Education Fair brings together experts from US, Russia and Ireland to share insights

PETALING JAYA: Students with dreams of pursuing higher education and finding work in the United States, Russia or Ireland should not miss next weekend’s Star Education Fair.

Representatives of educational institutions from the three countries will be speaking at the fair to provide insights on study and work opportunities there.

INTI International College Head of American Degree Transfer Programme (AUP) for the Centre for American Education, Terrie Teoh, will be speaking about the many advantages of studying in the US.

“Studying in the United States is extremely flexible – you can major or double major in just about anything under the sun,” said Teoh, adding that American universities placed emphasis on developing well-rounded students who were prepared to think outside the box.

Russian Resources Sdn Bhd counsellor Alexandra Chaplygina, who will also be giving a talk, said that while educational programmes in Russia took longer to complete compared with their international counterparts, it was for a good reason.

“Degree courses in Russia last a minimum of four years, equipping students with more knowledge and richer experiences.

“Russia is popular for medicine but is also well-known for other fields including engineering, chemistry, international business as well as arts and culture.

“Malaysians learn Russian very fast, and their outgoing nature makes it easy for them to make Russian friends,” she said.

Those who fancy an education in Ireland should attend the talk by Ireland international education services manager Terry McParland.

These experts will be happy to take questions related to studying and working in their respective countries during the session titled Study & Work Overseas, which will be held from 1.15pm to 2.45pm on the first day of the fair.

Visitors attending the Education and Career Talks will stand a chance to win e-tickets from Golden Screen Cinemas through fun quizzes.

The Star Education Fair will be held on June 14 and 15 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 11am to 7pm. Admission is free.
