Cannabisthe plant found at a housing unit at the condominium
KOTA KINABALU: Two people pleaded not guilty in a Sessions Court here to a charge of planting cannabis.
Frenchwoman Melissa Marie Commins, 31, and Jon Stephen Mosundu, 24, were charged with committing the offence at No. 302, Signal Hill Tower, Jalan Bukit Bendera here at 11.30am on Jan 29 this year.
The charge, under Section 6B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a life imprisonment and whipping of not less than six strokes. Judge Dean Wayne Daly set Feb 27 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutors Dominic Chew and Nartiah F. Michelle Sambathan prosecuted.
In a Magistrate's Court, Ashley Ng Han, 26, said to be a friend of the two accused, was charged with trafficking 572gm of cannabis and cultivating the plant at a housing unit at the same condominium on the same day. No plea was recorded.
It was reported that five suspects, including a French woman, were detained in a special narcotics operation following the discovery of 36 ganja plants at two condominium units in Bukit Bendera here last Wednesday.- Bernama
