Minister's aide among three nabbed by MACC


PETALING JAYA: A special officer to a minister and two others have been detained by anti-corruption officers in connection with a tender for a cleaning job at a ministry.

One of the other two suspects is a businessman with a “Datuk” title.

The three were detained for alleged corruption in the awarding of the tender.

In a statement here, a spokesman for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the special officer was detained at a restaurant somewhere in Selangor on Wednesday.

He said the three suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were brought to the Putrajaya magistrate’s court at about 8.30am yesterday.

They face charges under Section 16(a)(B) and Section 17(a) of the MACC Act.
