PETALING JAYA: Need solutions when it comes to medical problems? Worry no more as the Malaysian Medical Gazette (MMG) is there to help you.
Formed under the umbrella of the Malaysian Integrated Medical Professionals Association (MIMPA), MMG is an online website created by medical experts to share their expertise on health issues.
MMG was officially launched online on Sept 29 by the Director General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The website started on Sept 19, 2013 and so far, the response has been encouraging. According to Dr Dhesi Baha Raja the Malaysian community is very receptive of the efforts and initiative of the MMG.
Their ultimate aim is to educate the public to make wise decisions when it comes to health matters.
The website is also intended to provide a platform for medical professionals to participate in research activities, with the aim to enhance their outlook towards recent developments in the field of medicine.
He also said communities would benefit from the scientific write ups, case reports and also personal opinions and views by medical experts which will be simplified for the community via the web based portal.
“Various doctors, dentists and pharmacists work together as a team to empower the community with accurate medical knowledge.
“MMG is expected to be the turning point of valid and reliable health information propagation, which will be handled by qualified medical personnel,” adding that the doctors writing for MMG are doing this voluntarily without being paid.
Recently, MMG also launched a mobile app for Android devices. Dr Dhesi also added that more specialist, pharmacist and also physiotherapist are applying to join them.
