KUALA LUMPUR: Jan Drew had expected to wrap things up and head for home as soon as her three-year stint as the University of Melbourne's regional director here ended. The Australian was sent here in 2007 to head the university's operations for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

But just after her first year here, Drew, 52, decided to make Malaysia “home”, saying she loved Malaysian culture, food, people and the lifestyle.
