New drug for children with thalassemia

KUALA LUMPUR: A new drug will be available in Malaysia soon for children with thalassemia aged below eight.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Saturday that patients who are not receiving optimal treatment or experience side effects from current drugs will also receive the new oral medication, called Exjade.
