Woman attempts suicide over gambling debts

KUALA LUMPUR: Unable to pay off her gambling debts to loan sharks, a 58-year-old housewife allegedly tried to commit suicide by sitting in a car and setting it on fire.

Yap Yoke Wah, who borrowed RM26,000 from loan sharks, was treated at the Kajang hospital for smoke inhalation but did not suffer any burns.
