Siti Nurhaliza to perform in London

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s top pop singer Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin has confirmed that she will be holding a full concert at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London on April 1 next year.

She is only the second Malaysian singer to perform there after Sudirman Hj Arshad, who sang there after he was named Asia’s No. 1 Performer in 1989 at the Salem Music Awards in 1989 with the song One Thousand Million Smiles

“I think it’s every singer’s dream to perform there. I am very excited.

“It will be an unforgettable experience to be performing at the magnificent Royal Albert Hall,” said Siti at the launch of “Siti Nurhaliza Live in Concert 2004” album at the Putra World Trade Centre recently.

“We have been working quietly on this project for the past one year. My repertoire will have a Malaysian identity as I am proud to represent Malaysia.”

She also said that she was happy with the overwhelming response to her recent Siti Nurhaliza Fantasia Tour in Malaysia, which culminated on Aug 21 at Stadium Bukit Jalil.

“That is why we came out with a CD and VCD on the Fantasia Tour called ‘Siti Nurhaliza Live In Concert 2004,’ which many have described as a collector’s item,” said Siti.

“We had 15 stopover concerts and the biggest turnout was at Stadium Bukit Jalil where more than 70,000 people came to watch the free concert.”

The Siti Nurhaliza Fantasia Tour album was released on Nov 29.

Asked to comment on the hate e-mail and text messages she received, Siti said she was relieved that it was coming to an end.

“The findings have shed some light on the case. I am glad people will eventually know the truth about it. As a victim, I am relieved and yet sad that it has come to this,” said Siti.

Next year, Siti will leave for Jogjakarta, Surabaya and Jakarta for her concert tour.

On speculation that she would be acting in the Indonesian film Tiga Dara, alongside Kris Dayanti and Dian Sastrawadono, to be produced by Indonesia’s legendary actress Christine Hakim, Siti said she was not telling.

“At this juncture, I cannot comment. I will only play an active role in a film if Siti Nurhaliza Productions is involved,” said the pop diva.
