Group donates RM100k as part of ongoing aid for relief efforts

YAYASAN Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the Naza Group of Companies kicked off its third phase of assistance by donating RM100,000 in aid of the affected flood victims in Perak.

The foundation has formerly pledged RM1mil, in line with one of the foundation’s objectives of helping in the efforts of disaster relief.

The cheque was handed over to Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir by Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd Corporate Communications and Principal Liaison director Datuk Samson Anand George,

“The contribution of RM100,000 is part of the RM1mil that Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin has pledged and we hope that it will provide assistance to the flood victims in Perak,” said Samson.

On Dec 31, the foundation contributed 500 cartons of ready-to-eat food supplies and 300 cartons of drinks to the Muslim Care Malaysia Society, a non-governmental organisation which delivered the items to Kuala Krai, Kelantan.

The first phase began on Dec 26, where the group initiated the immediate distribution of 3,000 boxes of essential supplies to flood-affected states.

A total of 30 tonnes of essential supplies were transported by lorry while another 5,000kg were transported by air.

The supplies included boats, dry food items, prayer items, toiletries, medication, diapers, clothes, baby formula and other necessities.

Plans are also being made for volunteers and post-disaster clean up.
