Fine artworks made of silk

Nishikigoi or Koi, the brocaded carp, symbolises luck and longevity. This piece was hand-embroidered with traditional plain stitches.

THE arresting picture of a rhinoceros was not painted nor drawn but produced by the dexterous hands of a silk embroidery artist.

Although the public were awed by the intricate piece, it was nothing unusual for Mao Chunhua who picked up the art himself while growing up in Suzhou, China.
