SUNWAY Property will be organising its annual “Race for A Better Planet” campaign in conjunction with World Environment Day (WED).

As part of the company’s commitment to raise public awareness of the importance of creating sustainable environment, the campaign will be running a series of non-competitive cycling events coupled with interactive activities and workshops.

The company has been actively promoting WED for the past three years by organising a range of sports activities, recycling efforts, green workshops and DIY events.

In the past year, the campaign has witnessed the participation of more than 3,000 people.

Sunway Berhad Property Development Division Malaysia and Singapore managing director Sarena Cheah said through the campaign’s fourth edition, the company hopes to get more green warriors to join forces and spread awareness for the planet’s sake.

“Through these interactive activities, we hope to bring the communities together and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly habits such as reducing the use of plastic bottles and taking lunchboxes instead of disposable containers.

“At the same time, we want to promote a healthy lifestyle via cycling and spending quality time with family and friends.”

The campaign, Cheah pointed out, is also in line with the company’s “Living Sunway, Living Community” concept to further engage and grow in tandem with the communities.

There will be two categories to the cycling events: the Fun Ride and Power Ride. The first is a much shorter cycling route compared with the latter.

There will also be workshops in which participants can learn about environmentally friendly planting, recycling and DIY efforts.
