THE Bungalow of Lone Pine Hotel celebrates Penang’s culinary heritage with its special Nyonya Hidang Set Dinner every Thursday.

Served from 7pm to 10.30pm, it is priced at RM37.30 per person and comes with seven classic dishes.

An appetiser platter offers light bites like Pie Tee, Chicken Lobak and Century Eggs, to get you going. Then it is time for rice and dishes.

They include Kiam Chai Ark, a salty and sour braised duck with pickled vegetable soup traditionally served during festive occasions.

Dig into the Otak Otak, a spiced fish and egg custard, or add on Sambal Udang Kering which are sauteed dried shrimps with lemongrass and dried chilli paste.

Take the heat up a notch with the Sambal Petai with Squid.

Get your dose of greens along with assorted mushrooms and black fungus in the stir-fried Loh Han Vegetables.

Completing the lineup is a sweet chicken and potato stew known as Pongteh, though it is said to originate from the Peranakans in Malacca rather than Penang.

Items in the set are fixed but portioned according to the number of diners.

Besides this, the hotel executive chef Henry Ang and junior sous chef Albert Teh have also come up with several other delectable promotions.

Try the Sizzling Hot Noodles menu available all day long from Monday to Wednesday, priced at RM24 per serving. Mix and match ingredients to suit you.

The organic noodles come in plain, pumpkin, beetroot or spinach flavours while sauce possibilities are black pepper beef, seafood, minced chicken and vegetarian.

Contemporary meets classic in the popular Tiffin Lunch served from noon to 3pm on Monday to Friday, also priced at RM37.30 per person. As its name suggests, items come in vintage tiffin carriers.

Big eaters should drop by on Friday and Saturday evenings for the Wine and Dine Buffet Dinner from 7pm to 10.30pm, offering a local and international flavours.

It is priced at RM98 for adults and RM49 for children aged six to 12. Add on RM49 per person for free flow of wines or beers.

More tasty treats await in the Sunday Buffet Lunch served between 12.30pm and 3.30pm. Adults pay RM80, while seniors above 60 and kids enjoy 50% discount.
