CROWDS and traffic did not hinder 988FM fans from converging on the weekly Taman Megah night market on Sunday to meet their favourite radio announcers and get their hands on the 988 Chinese New Year House of Happiness 2017 premium package.
The premium package contained a CD, a DVD with short films and videos, postcards and ang pow packets.
Even before the event started at 8pm, a small crowd had already gathered at a spot adjacent to the Taman Megah Badminton Hall, where they were entertained by the 988 Cruisers.
The crowd grew excited when announcers KK Wong, May and Hao Min appeared.
The trio spent almost an hour cajoling and challenging them with games and signing autographs.
Hao Min, who hosts the Stand By You programme, tested her rock-paper-scissors skills with fans, while Wong played musical maestro for the evening, testing to see if his fans could go up and down the musical scale in one breath.
Fans who participated in the games were later rewarded with a goodie bag containing the 988 Chinese New Year House of Happiness 2017 premium package and Ah Huat White Coffee products.
“It’s been a while since we’ve joined the Cruisers to meet our fans, so I’m really elated that we’ve been given the chance to be with them tonight,” Hao Min said.
Their appearance brought a ripple of joy among the crowd, especially the fans who have been chasing the 988 Chinese New Year House of Happiness roadshow.
They were happy to meet the bubbly announcers and collect a copy of 988 Chinese New Year House of Happiness 2017.
Loo Hin Keat, from OUG, came in hopes of finally landing himself a copy after missing out on the roadshow in his neighbourhood’s night market on Jan 12.
“I feel lucky to get it on my second attempt, and this time I got a goodie bag too,” said the 35-year-old engineer, who also participated in the games.
Teacher Michelle Ling, 35, was happy she was able to meet with her favourite announcers.
“I’m a big fan of 988, so coming here and seeing KK (Wong), my favourite announcer, really made my day,” she said.
The 988 Chinese New Year House of Happiness 2017 premium package is distributed free during the on-going roadshow.
Roadshows will be held at the Taman Connaught night market tomorrow, Setia Alam night market on Jan 21 and Kepong Baru night market on Jan 22.
