THE Malaysia Property Exhibition (Mapex) 2016 in Perak is set to return bigger and better this year, as it is expected to draw at least 30,000 visitors with 49 booths on display.

The fair, organised by the Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Perak branch, is said to be the largest in the state with plenty of property developers from Perak, Selangor, Penang and Cameron Highlands showcasing their projects under one roof.

Organising chairman Loh Ban Ho said the fair will be a great way for housebuyers to shop and compare the prices of their dream home or investment properties, thus saving money, time and resources.

“From semi-detached houses, to single-storey and double-storey ones, there are bound to be lots of choices for them to look at,” he told a press conference at Excelsior Hotel in Ipoh on Wednesday.

Loh said that during last year’s fair, there were 45 booths with RM4.4bil worth of properties on display, while the sales transaction at the fair amounted to RM20mil.

“This year, visitors can get the chance to visit a booth to know more about the MyDeposit (First House Deposit Financing) scheme.

“First-time housebuyers with a household income between RM3,000 and RM10,000 are eligible to apply for the scheme and those visiting the fair can get to talk to officers about the scheme,” he said.

Loh said, since booths were made available two weeks ago, 70% of the booths had already been snapped up by developers.

“We are also calling for more developers to come and join the fair, because compared to the booth rental prices in Mapex Kuala Lumpur, the prices here are the cheapest in the country.

“A booth costs only about RM3,000 to RM4,000, while the Mapex in Kuala Lumpur could easily be around RM30,000 to RM50,000,” he said, adding that application for the booths are being handled on a first-come first-served basis.

Committee member Dr Tan Chin Yong said the sole reason Mapex is held is to help housebuyers own properties at attractive and competitive prices.

“The developers will be giving a lot of incentives, making this a good time for buyers to own their dream home.Everything will be here at the fair, and I’m sure they can get what they need by just spending an afternoon here at the fair,” he said.

Mapex Perak 2016 will be held at Ipoh Parade shopping centre from 10am to 10pm from July 29 to 31.

Throughout the three days, there will be music performances by DJs and property-related talks.
