Spending Friday night with more than 300 people in Jalan Medan Tuanku, Unitab Medic Sdn Bhd (Fomema), in collaboration with non-governmental organisation Pertiwi Soup Kitchen, successfully joined hands to provide free medical check-ups and distribute food to the homeless people.
Led by deputy chief officer Datuk Dr Kreeson Vengadeson, Fomema employees recently distributed more than 300 packs of hot food, biscuits, drinking water, buns and snacks during the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme held at Pusat Gelandangan, Jalan Medan Tuanku, from 9pm until midnight.
Fomema president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Hatar Ismail said, “Two years has passed since our first Homeless CSR programme in 2014, we are glad that it is still on track and we have the opportunity to accomplish the programme as planned.
“As a fresh start to 2016, we are expanding our CSR programme by giving the homeless free medical check-ups.
“Through this programme, we aim to educate the homeless on the importance of hygiene, healthy diet and lifestyle in order to prevent diseases.
“This programme serves as an umbrella for Fomema’s initiative to help the community as going forward, we would focus more on the activity that could bring impact because we believe this is the time for us to give back to the needy,” he said.
“We really hope these activities will attract and encourage others to contribute and do the same.
“We are so happy that this programme went very well and we managed to help the homeless by supplying food.
“This might be our first, but definitely not the last collaboration with Pertiwi Soup Kitchen and there are more projects to come as we would continue to support Pertiwi Soup Kitchen in their endeavours,” he added.
