KUALA LUMPUR: Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, recipient of the 2016 Malaysia Most Visited Retailer award, is offering promotions on essential items via its Syiok vouchers from Dec 29 to Jan 14, 2017.

In a statement, customer director Vivian Yap said the hypermarket strived to better serve shoppers in Malaysia by listening to them and understanding the impact of the current economic pressure on families.

"We've seen how families are striving to stretch their money, especially in times when they need to spend for the back to school, followed quickly by the  Christmas and Chinese New Year festivities," she said.

Earlier this year, Tesco launched its long-term price cut campaign with a massive investment in price of up to RM90 million.

The campaign was executed in three phases focusing on baby products during the first phase, cooking and baking essentials and recently expanded to health, beauty and accessories categories.

The hypermarket recently bagged an award from KANTAR Worldpanel, the global expert in shoppers' behaviour.

The study was done based on purchase behaviour of 2,500 panellists, representing the entire household population in Peninsular Malaysia covering 126 grocery categories excluding fresh food, alcohol and cigarette. - Bernama
