George Kent bags RM277mil contract to build hospital in Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR: George Kent (M) Bhd has received a letter of award (LOA) from the Public Works Department (JKR) to design and build a 150-bed Hospital in Tanjung Karang, Selangor, for RM277.2mil.

The company said the hospital was to be constructed on a 6.88ha site facing the main trunk road between Tanjung Karang and Kuala Selangor.

It will take 48 months to build and is scheduled for completion by November 2020.

In a statement on Tuesday, George Kent said this was the third hospital that the group was building on a turnkey basis for the Health Ministry.

It completed construction of phase one of the Kuala Lipis Hospital in 2012 and is now in the midst of constructing the second phase.

George Kent said the contract would add to the current order book of specialist projects and in line with the group’s strategy to actively bid for upcoming engineering construction projects.

“It is not expected to have a significant effect on the earnings of the group’s current financial year ending Jan 31, 2017, but, will contribute positively to future earnings over the duration of the contract,” it added. - Bernama
