SunCon bags RM66mil job for UKM children’s specialist hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) has bagged a RM66.3mil electrical services and ventilation-related contract for the country’s first paediatric specialist hospital, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Permata Children’s Specialist Hospital.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, SunCon said its indirect subsidiary Sunway Engineering Sdn Bhd on Monday accepted the letter of award issued by Zecon Medicare Sdn Bhd in relation to the supply, installation and maintenance of electrical services and air comditioning & mechanical ventilation system for the proposed RM606mil hospital.

It said the project would be completed on April 30, 2018 and was expected to contribute positively to the earnings of the SunCon group from the financial year ending Dec 31, 2016 onwards.

The project is subject to normal construction risk of materials price fluctuation.  “However, with the expertise of Sunway Engineering in mechanical and engineering projects, this risk could be mitigated,” it added.

SunCon shares closed unchanged at RM1.55 on Monday with 1.268 million shares traded.
