S&P reaffirms Malaysia’s sovereign ratings


PETALING JAYA: Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services (S&P) has reaffirmed its sovereign ratings on Malaysia, with a stable outlook based on the country’s strong external position and considerable monetary flexibility.

The international rating agency said in a statement that it would maintain Malaysia’s foreign-currency sovereign credit ratings at A- for the long-term and A-2 for the short-term papers, while the local-currency sovereign credit ratings would be maintained at A for the long-term and A-1 for the short-term papers.
