JOHOR BARU: The Johor Football Association (JFA) have terminated the contract of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) II goalkeeper Mohd Anis Faron due to disciplinary problems.
JFA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said the decision was made after Mohd Anis uttered foul language to a police personnel after JDT II’s 2-1 loss to Penang in a Premier League match at the City Stadium on April 3.
Mohd Anis was charged at a magistrate’s court in Penang on April 14 where he pleaded not guilty.
Tunku Ismail reminded the players at both JDT and JDT II to always keep their discipline and not tarnished the JFA’s name.
“We will not compromise with any players for behaving badly especially in public. If anyone is found breaking the law, we will show them the door,” he said.
Tunku Ismail also wants JDT II coach Goran Paulic to start using youth players to expose them in competitive matches.
“We have good young talents in that team and I hope Paulic will start using them soon in the league matches.
“JDT II is set up to help develop talent in the hope that one day they will play for the senior team,” he said, adding that senior players like Shahril Ishak and Baihakki Khaizan should guide the younger players.
Tunku Ismail also hopes that JDT will improve on their travels in the Super League.
“Our home record is good as we are unbeaten, but there is no consistency when we play away from Larkin Stadium.
“I believe the coach (Bojan Hodak) knows about this problem. I hope the players will start getting maximum points in away matches,” he said.
In another matter, Tunku Ismail said the JFA would come out with new marketing strategies to boost JDT’s name in the region.
“Malaysian football teams have always find it difficult to market themselves, either locally or abroad, unlike big established European teams.
“The JFA have several plans in the pipeline and we hope they will boost our image to a bigger audience,” he said.
