JOHOR BARU: The Johor Football Association (JFA) will soon have their own indoor training pitch.
Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) honorary secretary Mohd Fahmy Yahya said the indoor training pitch, believed to be the first in South East Asia, would cost about RM15mil and expected to be completed by year-end.
“We have hired local expertise to design and build the 0.8ha pitch within the Padang Sri Gelam grounds here,” he told reporters after their ground-breaking ceremony at Padang Sri Gelam here.
He added that the pitch, which is funded by Iskandar Waterfront Holdings (IWH), would be built according to the requirements and specifications set by FIFA, the world’s football governing body.
Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim, who represented Johor FA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, launched the ground-breaking ceremony.
